You ever stay up way too late playing a game? Do you ever die on the final boss after the perfect run? Well this is exactly what I did last night. My friends recently got me to buy Risk of Rain 2. I think it's a pretty fun game. We were trying to unlock a weapon for the character I like to play as, Bandit, so we were grinding. We got to the final boss three separate times. I have to be the one to get the final shot on the boss, so the pressure was on.
The first time, my buddy Daniel one shot the boss and skipped the final phase. Not too bad. At least I knew how the fight went down (or so I thought).
The second time, it was just my friend Brandon and I left. We got to the final phase. The final phase in this fight has the boss taking all your upgrades. You shoot him and you get them back. I was told about this, but I was not told how little health he would have in the final phase. We were just pumping shots into him, and then all of a sudden he was dead and I missed my opportunity.
The third time was the run. It was 3AM and we decided to run one more. Speedrun in fact. We got to the second to last stage in record time. 30 minutes! Then we accidentally loop. This game lets you loop the stages again so you can get even more powerful. Okay, so we looped big deal. We got to the final boss another 30 minutes later. This was the last chance to get this unlock.
I three shot the boss in the first phase. Okay doing pretty good, let's go. Then the second phase comes around. I die. Yeah, I died. He one shot me. So much for the perfect run. Staying up late for no results. 4AM and I died in the perfect run.
I guess the real reward was the time I got to spend with my friends. I'll get it next time.
