I tried VR -

Austin is a cool guy. Very cool. He let me borrow his Valve Index over the weekend. This is my experience in the virtual reality.

I wouldn't say I get motion sick easily, but spin me in a circle once and I'm out for the night. Never had issues with driving, just something about spinning that gets me.

I set up the Index in my room and I was gonna play with Nadali. She has her own Quest 2 or whatever it is at home, so we planned on playing together. I put it on and immediately all the text is so blurry I can't read anything. I tried adjusting the unit in any way I could, and got it to a somewhat usable placement. The text was still somewhat blurry. I had a struggle reading menus in VRChat.

VR is a cool concept and I wish I could've enjoyed it more. We played around on VRChat for a while but my eyes were hurting and I was getting a progressively worse headache as the night went on. Moving around didn't help with motion sickness. I still chugged along for the sake of playing with Nadali. We tried a backrooms game, but for some reason I couldn't see her. We moved onto some zombie shooter game and it was pretty fun. My eyes still hurt and it made me sick to look around, but we did pretty well.

The next day I decided to give it another go. I adjusted the unit a little lower on my head and got it less blurry. Still not perfect though. I tried the vivecraft mod in Minecraft and it was definitely cool seeing my world. I jumped into some water and regret that. I got in VRChat and was able to play a little longer, but I still got sick. I had a headache the rest of the day.

I'm glad Austin let me borrow his VR because I always wanted to try a different unit than one by Oculus. I'm just glad I know I likely never want to buy one for myself now. I'll stick to monitors!!
